I suspect high score fanatics may exploit this to get on top of the leaderboards. One of the multi-ball modes is so simple to activate that I was trying on purpose not to get it so I could play around with other aspects of the table. During one session, I ended up getting three to four extra balls, even though I wasn’t sure how I was getting them. It’s not a difficult table, and hitting specific shots can be done with ease. Even losing the ball and hearing the agonizing “Nooooooooooooo!” scream never gets old. Many of the sound effects like the growling zombies fit in nicely, and the music is wonderful and reminds me of just how much fun Plants vs. Money is collected to purchase various bonuses from the back of Crazy Dave’s car, which you’ll constantly see zoom onto the screen. The Melon-Pult makes an appearance where you have to launch a watermelon at zombie targets. Another mission involves going head-to-head with a football player zombie who will block your shots. During the Going Nuts mission, fog settles over most of the table, blocking vision of the ball, and zombies will emerge from it.

Like all tables, there’s a bunch of mini-games to test your pinball skills. Regular zombies only need to be hit once to disappear, but Conehead Zombies and Buckethead Zombies take more than one shot to take down. Like in the original game where you stop waves of zombies from entering your home, zombies will trudge their way toward the flippers and doormat, and it’s up to you to stop them with your green-colored pinball representing the classic Pea-Shooters. Zomboss in the Zombot lurks in the back, Chompers save the ball from draining along the sides, and a Sunflower can be awakened who tosses out sunlight that’s collected to purchase plant weapons to stop zombies in their tracks.

The plunger is a corn on a cob, and achieving skill shots requires bopping a zombie in scuba gear on the head. Zombies is very colorful and beaming with details. It is available for 240 Microsoft Points on Xbox Live under Pinball FX 2, and $2.99 on the PlayStation Network for the PS3 and PS Vita with Cross Buy entitlement (pay for it once to play on both systems) under Zen Pinball.
